A man accused of killing his mother has waived his right to a jury trial, according to the Maine attorney general’s office.
Jason Ibarra of Bath has elected to have a trial before the court.
Ibarra is charged with the depraved indifference murder of his mother, 66-year-old Jeanine Ross.
He allegedly strangled his mother.
Police said officers found Ross’ body on the floor of her apartment in Bath in May 2022 with a lanyard around her neck.
Authorities were called to the apartment by the suspect’s brother who said Ibarra called him to say he killed their mother because she attacked.
