New England Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick’s 300th career win couldn’t have come at a better time.
New England quarterback Mac Jones threw a one-yard touchdown pass to tight end Mike Gesicki with 12 seconds remaining in the game as the Patriots shocked the Buffalo Bills 29-25 on Sunday.
With the win, Belichick joined an exclusive club as just the third NFL coach to reach the milestone of 300 career regular season wins. Don Shula tops the list with 328 wins, followed by George Halas at 318 wins.
Belichick, in typical fashion, downplayed reaching the milestone.
“I mean, it’s great,” Belichick told reporters after the game. “I’m really more focused on, you know, our team and this year. Worry about that later. Thank you.”
Jones, who has been under heavy criticism following poor performances in recent games, led the Patriots on an eight-play, 75-yard scoring drive after taking over with 1:58 left on the clock. Jones completed 11-of-15 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
Jones completed 25-of-30 passes for 272 yards with the two touchdowns and no interceptions as the Patriots snapped a three-game losing streak.
