We’re tracking a winter storm that’s expected to impact us Sunday afternoon into Monday morning.

If your plans take you outside Sunday morning there will be no weather issues as skies will remain cloudy.

A Winter storm watch has been posted for most areas inland.

Winter Storm Watches have been posted for Central and Northern Maine

Rain and snow will develop during the afternoon on Sunday with most areas starting as a light rain.

Most areas start as rain with snow across the north and mountains

The atmosphere will slowly cool and temperatures will be cold enough to support a transition to snow for much of the state through the late afternoon and evening.

The coastline will see the transition last with accumulating snow expected for most areas overnight.

Overnight Sunday into Monday morning most will see snow

The steady snow will come to an end Monday morning with snow showers continuing Monday afternoon and night.

Totals will range from a coating to 2” along the coast with more in the way of rain. 2-5 inches of snow north of the coast up through Lewiston and Augusta. Further north, 5-10 inches likely with some parts of the mountains seeing as much a foot.

The highest totals will be in the mountains, and the lowest near the coast

Other than some leftover snow showers Monday afternoon and night we will stay mostly dry for the middle of the week.

It will be cold with highs in the 20s to low 30s Tuesday through the end of the workweek with overnight lows in the single digits and teens for most.
