BANGOR — This holiday season, UScellular is giving back to the local community by donating needed items to Bangor Beautiful. With its “Gift of Connection” program, UScellular is donating $5,000 worth of mural supplies to support Bangor Beautiful’s mission of making Bangor a more beautiful place to live through public art, trees and gardens, and other beautification efforts.

This donation includes paint, painting equipment, and other tools and equipment needed to paint murals. Bangor Beautiful was founded in 2022 by artists and citizens of Bangor who are passionate about making the community a more beautiful place to live.

The founding members have been volunteering and beautifying Bangor for many years. Over the past decade, they have planted hundreds of flowers, shrubs, and trees; organized community cleanups and gardening projects; and created murals on walls, benches, parking barriers, and utility boxes primarily in downtown. The members are responsible for murals such as “Greetings from Bangor, Maine,” “Paul B., Bangor Wants You,” and the “Kenduskeag Stream Trail Mural.”

“Bangor Beautiful does so much for the Bangor community, so we want to help them deliver the much-needed support they provide with a donation of mural supplies,” said Kyle Burbine, area sales manager at UScellular in northern New England. “At UScellular, we strive to unleash the power of our communities and are excited to help connect people to what matters most this holiday season.”

This donation is one of 40 non-profit donations to organizations across the country in honor of UScellular’s 40th anniversary. The company is helping organizations that bring people and communities together to enjoy genuine connections through arts, music, sports, and food with needed supplies.

“UScellular’s donation will help Bangor Beautiful continue to build connection and bring people together through our community’s shared love for art, trees, and beauty,” said Greg Edward, treasure/secretary for Bangor Beautiful.

Since 2009, UScellular has invested more than $35 million in monetary donations, technology resources and countless experiences to nonprofit organizations across the country.

In addition, UScellular is inviting the community to participate in the Gift of Connection through a donation drive at UScellular retail locations. People are encouraged to donate new sports equipment, art supplies, or family board games. Visit uscellular.com/store-locator to find your closest location.
