As rainwater flooded across Maine communities last week, the state’s emergency responders had to act quickly to reach those stranded without power or shelter.

In the days following the wind and rain storm, a number of communities remained underwater, with acres of flooded land across the state. Because of the extensive emergency response, Maine’s public agencies were there to see first-hand what damage had been done.

These aerial photos, taken by a drone operated by Maine forest rangers and from a Farmington Police Department helicopter, give insight into just how bad the flooding was.
