A Hebron man has been sentenced to three years in prison after a federal jury found that he was in illegal possession of nearly 900 firearms.

Dario Giambro, 75, was found guilty by a federal jury on Oct. 11, 2023, of being a felon in possession of firearms. Evidence presented in court showed that Maine State Police recovered 856 firearms from Giambro’s residence when executing a warrant in January 2022, according to the Maine district of the United States Attorney’s Office.

Giambro had a previous federal felony conviction for possessing an unregistered firearm.

Officers seized a number of shotguns, pistols, revolvers and rifles from Giambro’s residence in 2022, along with significant amounts of ammunition.

Giambro has also been ordered to pay a fine of $250,000 by U.S. District Judge George Z. Singal.

The firearms found in Giambro’s residence were taken in through administrative forfeiture by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms.
