Flu cases in Maine are on the rise.
Cases of the flu nearly doubled in December, from 260 to 510 cases, according to the Portland Press Herald.
The most recent data from the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention show 673 cases reported across the state.
Maine isn’t the only state experiencing an increase in influenza.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said that flu cases peaked at “very high” levels in multiple states across the East Coast at the beginning of January.
Public health officials warn cases could continue to spike later this winter and spring.
The CDC said the best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated.
