A suspect is in custody after multiple businesses in the Waldo County towns of Unity and Burnham were vandalized Friday.

Three stores were damaged in the apparent spree, including Patterson’s General Store in Burnham and Direct Communications and The Depot Country Store, both in Unity, according to employees at those businesses who were unable to share much more information.

Little other information was immediately available, including the type of vandalism, whether anyone was injured or whether the suspect had been charged.

In a phone call, Lt. Cody Laite of the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said there was no threat to public safety and that the incident was still under investigation, but that more information wouldn’t be available until later.
