It appears the Macy’s located at the Maine Mall in South Portland will not be one of the 150 locations the retailer plans to close.
Macy’s announced earlier this week that it plans to close 50 underperforming stores by the end of this year and 100 more over the next two years.
A spokesperson told the Portland Press Herald that not only is the Maine location safe, but it may also actually be in line for upgrades, though no specifics were provided.
Macy’s plans to add more staff to its remaining 350 stores.
The South Portland location is the only Macy’s store left in Maine. The Bangor Macy’s closed in 2017.
