A fire destroyed a home on Barker Road in Troy on Wednesday afternoon.
The blaze was suspected to have started in a nearby building that served as a workshop before spreading to the home, according to WABI. The residence was fully in flames by the time firefighters arrived around 1 p.m.
The residents of the home were largely unharmed, but one of them had to be treated for smoke inhalation, Troy Fire Chief Chris Phillips told WABI. One animal reportedly died in the fire.
A third structure that served as a barn was also badly damaged. All three buildings were beyond repair, and an excavator had to be brought in to take down the house, according to WABI. Barker Road was closed for several hours afterwards.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
