An unloaded gun still in its holster was found in the Bangor Walmart parking lot Tuesday evening.

The people who found the gun did not touch it and called police, Bangor police Sgt. Jason McAmbley said. It would have been easy for someone to take it, he said.

The gun did not have a magazine and was unloaded, McAmbley said. Police found the owner of the handgun, who also had called police about a missing gun.

Police currently have the gun, he said.

“If you leave your house with a firearm, you should return to your house with a firearm,” McAmbley said.
