Police have shut down an illegal marijuana growing operation at a house in Freedom.

The Maine State Police tactical unit and Waldo County Sheriff’s Office on Monday executed a search warrant at a home at 555 Belfast Road (Route 137), the Waldo County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

Police reported finding more than 1,900 live marijuana plants at the house and dismantling the growing operation.

The sheriff’s office did not say whether anyone was charged but said the investigation is ongoing and “any charges as a result of this investigation will be reported at a later time.”
