In a recent interview, President Joe Biden stated that he inherited a 9 percent inflation rate from his predecessor. In fact, on Inauguration Day in January of 2021, the rate stood at 1.4 percent. Inflation did not reach 9 percent until well into his own term in office.
The preferable scenario is that the president knows that his statement was untrue — because the alternative is that he doesn’t.
