Two people died in a house fire in Great Pond early Monday morning.

The Aurora Fire Department was called to a home at 23 Old Dam Way at about 5 a.m. where firefighters found two bodies, Maine State Police Lt. Aaron M. Turcotte said in a news release.

The firefighters notified the state fire marshal’s office, and the bodies were brought to the chief medical examiner’s office in Augusta for autopsies.

The Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit is helping the fire marshal’s office with the investigation, Turcotte said, though he did not indicate whether a crime was suspected.
