A person was found dead in a Union home on Route 17 Saturday, the Courier-Gazette reports.

The Knox County troopers responded to 8 Heald Highway near the Hope town line just before 9:20 a.m. By noon, seven police cruisers and the Maine State Police evidence recovery team were on scene investigating, according to the Courier-Gazette.

Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine State Police, told the Courier-Gazette that the death was under investigation but there was no threat to the public.

There will be no additional information until an autopsy is completed, she said Sunday.
