A South Portland woman drove the wrong way on Interstate 295 from Falmouth to Freeport early Sunday morning before crashing into a construction site, police said.

The Augusta Regional Communications Center received multiple calls at around 3:40 a.m. Sunday of a driver going northbound in the southbound side at mile 10, Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Safety, said in a news release.

The driver, Tatiana Bisimwa, 28, of South Portland made it to mile 22 in Freeport and ended up between concrete construction barriers, Moss said. Bisimwa was issued a criminal summons for driving to endanger and released, and an adverse driving report will be submitted to the Bureau of Motor Vehicles.

No one was injured. The vehicle, a 2012 Ford Fusion, was towed from the scene.
