VERONA ISLAND — The Verona Island Community Resilience Committee is hosting a Community Resilience Workshop on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9-11 a.m. at the Verona Island Town Hall on School Street.

The Committee invites the community to share ideas on ways to improve community resilience, improve energy efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Please join the Verona Island Community Resilience Committee as we identify risks to the community, resources to mitigate and adjust to climate change, and ways to protect our natural resources and community infrastructure.

This workshop is one step in helping the Town of Verona Island enroll in Maine’s Community Resilience Partnership program. Once Verona Island is enrolled, the Town will become eligible for Community Action Grant funding from the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future. Enrollment will qualify Verona Island for other grants, too.

Members of the Verona Island Community Resilience Committee, appointed by the Board of Selectmen, are Korey Ames, Travis Astbury, Todd Bridges, Susan Christinziano, Vincent Christinziano, Crystal DaCosta, Lionel Harvey, and Jennifer Riefler.

All are welcome. We encourage the youth in the community to attend and share their thoughts and ideas about climate resilience. Refreshments will be served. For more information, contact:
