Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation District has launched its Backyard Rewilding Program, featuring a Conservation Landscape Certification initiative. Frenchman Bay Conservancy’s Tidal Falls Preserve has become the first in 2024 to achieve a Masters CLC Certification for its wildlife-friendly landscape supporting native Maine plants.

The program, inspired by Doug Tallamy’s “Nature’s Best Hope,” guides homeowners in creating wildlife-friendly habitats. It offers free personalized guidance, flexible participation levels, and recognition for Master Conservationists.

Hancock County residents interested in this free program can contact HCSWCD at 207-667-8663 or email hcswcdinfo@hancockcountyswcd.org. A Backyard Rewilding Kickoff Event will be held at the Hancock County Extension Office on Aug. 14th from 6-7:30 p.m. RSVP by calling 207-667-8663 or online.
