One person is dead after a motorcycle hit a car in Orono on Monday morning.

The crash happened on Main Street at about 11:44 a.m., according to Orono police.

Police said the motorcyclist collided with an SUV that was making a left turn into Penobscot Valley Dermatology.

The driver of the motorcycle, 31-year-old Brandon Martins, of Brewer, died at the scene. Police did not immediately provide his town of residence. The driver of the SUV was reportedly uninjured, police said.

Police said Martins was wearing a helmet, and “early indications from the witnesses on scene indicate speed was a contributing factor in the crash.”

The investigation is ongoing, and police said no criminal charges are expected.
