My message to Vice President Kamala Harris: This is no time for campaigning. The people need her help. I call on her to set up a temporary office in western North Carolina. Every minute that goes by, people may feel more and more abandoned.

She should not allow this to be a “Libyan Embassy” — or another — “Hurricane Katrina” moment. She should do the right thing and overwhelm those affected with a federal response and her personal involvement.

I thank her for listening — and caring.
