A car crash knocked out power to much of the Blue Hill peninsula on Wednesday afternoon.

Versant Power workers started repairing the damage around 4 p.m. after a car hit a utility pole, according to a representative of the utility.

As of 6:30 p.m. 8,331 customers were without power. That included nearly all Versant customers in Brooksville, Brooklin, Deer Isle, Penobscot, Sedgwick and Stonington.

Versant estimates power will be restored to all customers by 8 p.m.
