ROCKLAND — The Good Tern Co-op and Hole in the Wall Bagels, 750-754 Main Street in Rockland, will host an all-ages family-friendly Swing Dance event on Saturday, Oct. 26 from 6-8 p.m. at Midcoast Strong, 143 Maverick Street. Costumes are encouraged, and light snacks will be provided. Tickets are on a sliding scale from $15 to $25 for adults, and kids under 16 are free (kids must be accompanied by an adult). Pay what you are able as this event is meant to be accessible to the community. Tickets are available at the door by cash or check only.

All are welcome to arrive at 6 p.m., to learn swing dance steps from Stefan Durham and Bethany Powell, who have traveled and competed internationally as dance teachers and performers.

This event is part of the “Love Your Co-op” fundraiser for Good Tern’s new refrigeration and freezer units, and donations will be collected at the door.  Elissa Bower, education & outreach coordinator at Good Tern Co-op, said, “Be sure to join us the weekend before Halloween for a fun-for-all-ages swing dance and costume party! There is lots of fun to be had — come learn to swing dance, enjoy seasonal treats, and support the community by helping to raise money for Good Tern Co-op’s new refrigeration and freezer units!”

Midcoast Strong has donated their studio to the Good Tern’s fundraising effort. Co-founded by Amanda Strong and Shizuka Jacobo in 2020, Midcoast Strong’s mission is “to create a warm and welcoming place to move and receive individualized instruction, all while having so much fun that you don’t realize how hard you are working!”

Good Tern Natural Foods Co-op is a member-owned food and health store, founded in 1980 to provide healthy food and wellness choices at reasonable prices for the local community. The Co-op’s Education & Community Outreach volunteers seek to engage residents of Midcoast Maine and beyond in fun and satisfying ways to learn while improving their own mental and physical health as well as ensuring a healthy planet.
