A Connecticut woman died Wednesday night after she was hit by a car in Portland.

Cynthia Karst, 66, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, was crossing Franklin Street at the intersection with Congress Street about 7:30 p.m. when she was hit by a car driven by a 36-year-old Portland man, according to Brad Nadeau, a spokesperson for the Portland Police Department.

Karst died at the scene, Nadeau said Thursday morning.

The crash remains under investigation. Nadeau said no charges have been filed.

No additional information was immediately available.
