Bangor police charged a Brewer contractor with felony theft for allegedly taking payment on a contract without doing the work.

Jason Bryant, 45, of Brewer, was arrested at Hollywood Casino in Bangor on Saturday, Bangor Police Sgt. Jason McAmbley said in a news release.

Police had put out a warrant for Bryant’s arrest after he was indicted by a grand jury in November, McAmbley said.

That indictment was based on a complaint by a Bangor couple who told police they had a contract with Bryant, doing business as JRB Construction, for work on their home. They alleged that the work was never done, but Bryant cashed checks they had written to him.

McAmbley said police had asked the casino to notify them if Bryant showed up there.

Bryant was brought to Penobscot County Jail and charged with Class C theft.
