Bar Harbor, Brooklin and parts of Bangor were hit by the strongest gusts during the windy storm that swept through Maine on Wednesday night and Thursday morning, dropping as much as 3 inches of rain along the way.
The National Weather Service reported a top wind speed of 67 mph at Bar Harbor Airport at 7:51 p.m. Wednesday.
Weather stations in South Brooklin and North Bangor logged 66 and 65 mph winds, respectively. Eastport and Frenchboro followed with gusts of 62 mph. Locations across northern and Down East Maine recorded top wind speeds of 35 to 60 mph.
Winds were somewhat lighter in central, midcoast and southern Maine topping out at 51 mph on Criehaven, near Matinicus Island.
A gust of 108 mph was recorded on the famously windy summit of Mount Washington in New Hampshire during the overnight storm.
