The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office on Friday named the two people who were killed in a head-on collision in Clifton.

The crash on Rebel Hill Road (Route 180) was reported at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Based on an investigation, the sheriff’s office said Matthew Dualan, 41, of Clifton, was speeding south in a GMC Yukon when he crossed the centerline on a curve in the road and hit a Honda CRV driven by Roger Brown, 85, of Otis.

One vehicle rolled over multiple times before stopping on its roof, catching fire and burning all the way through, Morton said.

The other vehicle left the road and hit a tree.

Both men died as a result of injuries from the crash.

Speed and driving to endanger are believed to be contributing factors, the sheriff’s office said.
