A Damariscotta man is dead after a head-on crash in Bristol over the weekend.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. Saturday on Bristol Road at the intersection with Walpole Meeting House Road.

A Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by a 65-year-old Southport man failed to yield to a vehicle turning onto Walpole Meeting House Road and crossed the center line to pass the vehicle, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.

The pickup then crashed head-on into a Volvo Station Wagon driven by 70-year-old Allen Millett of Damariscotta, the sheriff’s office said.

Millett, who wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene.

The pickup truck driver was taken to Miles Hospital in Damariscotta with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Speed and road conditions are factors in the crash.

There is no word yet on whether any charges will be filed.

The crash remains under investigation.
