A stretch of Broadway in Bangor will be narrowed to one lane in the eastbound direction for three days next week to allow for work on the Interstate 95 overpass bridges.

The closure, which will only affect eastbound traffic, will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. starting Wednesday, Jan. 15 and continuing through Friday, Jan. 17, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

The lane closure will allow workers to excavate the western abutment for a new I-95 bridge at that location. Traffic on I-95 will not be impacted. Signs will direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic, Maine DOT said.

The bridge replacement project, which includes intersection enhancements, according to Maine DOT, started in June 2023 and is scheduled to be complete in late 2026.
