Seven people were hospitalized after a suspected carbon monoxide poisoning event at a Kittery day care on Wednesday.

At about 3:19 p.m. Wednesday, the Kittery Public Safety Dispatch fielded a report of potential carbon monoxide poisoning at Building Blocks Learning Center, a day care at 1 Route 236 in Kittery.

Twenty-seven children and roughly 10 staff were in the building at the time of the call, the town said in a news release.

No deaths or serious injuries have been identified at this time, the town said.

No information was immediately available about the cause of the incident.

The state fire marshal’s office is sending a crew of investigators and inspectors, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.
