The Associated Press story in Thursday’s Bangor Daily News that describes Donald Trump’s conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin is deeply concerning. How dare the U.S. open negotiations with Russia without advance consultation and inclusion of President Volodymyr Zelensky and other representatives of Ukraine?

In negotiating with Putin without the Ukrainians, Trump has cheapened Ukraine’s three years of courageous sacrifice in defense of their homeland. The Ukrainians should be principals in any and all negotiations! With an ally like Donald Trump, who needs enemies?
