LINCOLN  – The Brady Nickerson Foundation Annual Family Fishing Derby returns for its sixth year to Mattanawcook Lake on Saturday, Feb. 22 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., bringing the community together for a fun-filled day of fishing, prizes, and fundraising for a great cause. Participants will meet at Prince Thomas Park in Lincoln before heading out onto the ice in search of the biggest catch.

Anglers of all ages will have the chance to win large prizes for the top three heaviest fish in both adult and kids’ categories. In addition, every child who participates will receive a prize, ensuring a rewarding experience for young fishermen and women.

The derby also features a unique Prettiest Fish Contest, setting it apart from other fishing tournaments. The angler with the most visually striking fish will win tickets to the Collins Center for the Arts.

Weigh-in ends at 1 p.m., with winners announced shortly after.

There will also be a 50/50 raffle and another raffle to benefit young Riley Wheaton who is currently battling pediatric cancer.

This cherished annual event is held in memory of Brady Nickerson of Glenburn, who tragically lost his battle with bone cancer at just 14 years old. Proceeds from the derby support youth sports programs and help raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer.
