Sen. Susan Collins owes the people of Maine an explanation on her vote to confirm Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s nomination as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services.

How can she vote for a science denier when there are several research facilities in Maine such as The Jackson Laboratory, a renowned genetic research facility headquartered in Bar Harbor, which employs more than 1,500 people in Maine? The decision could have a far-reaching impact on their employees’ job security and on important research on cancer and genetic diseases as the facility will likely face a withdrawal of federal funds necessary to continue their work.
