A teen was injured Tuesday when he was hit by a car while crossing a street in Farmington.

An 18-year-old from Sidney was crossing Main Street in front of a residence hall at the University of Maine at Farmington when a 39-year-old Strong woman hit him with her car, according to the Sun Journal.

The Sun Journal reported that the victim was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

Farmington police told the Sun Journal the teen was attempting to use the crosswalk. The northbound beacons were working at the time, but the southbound lights were not. The driver was approaching the crosswalk from the northbound side, according to the town.

The lights are being repaired.

According to the Sun Journal, charges against the driver are pending.

Correction: An earlier version of this report incorrectly stated that the crosswalk lights weren’t working. They were working on one side.
