Maine State Police on Tuesday identified the human remains found in a Lewiston bog in January as belonging to a man who had been missing for more than five years.

Michael Roberts, 68, of Lewiston, was reported missing in November of 2019 to the Lewiston Police Department after wandering from a Bartlett Street residence, according to state police.

His remains were found on Jan. 25 of this year in Garcelon Bog at the end of Russell Street by a nearby resident, who contacted authorities.

Roberts was identified through DNA analysis at the Maine State Police Crime Laboratory.

His death is not considered suspicious, police said.
