A horse-drawn buggy rolled over after being rear-ended by a motor vehicle in the Penobscot County town of Corinth on Wednesday afternoon.

The occupants of the buggy reported minor injuries, but no one was brought to the hospital, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said.

The horse was taken back to the farm by members of the community for care, Moss said.

No additional information was immediately available.

The Maine Department of Transportation urges motorists to slow down and pay special attention when sharing the road with a horse-drawn buggies.

Horses are easily spooked by car horns, revving engines and automobiles driving too close, and it is against the law to intentionally frighten or startle an animal in a public way.
