The city of Ellsworth on Monday said repairs to a broken water main may contaminate the water supply of some Water Department customers, who should boil their water until further notice.

Residents of these streets should boil for at least 5 minutes any water for drinking, making ice cubes, washing food, brushing teeth or consuming water:

Main Street from Fairground Road to Washington Junction Road, Fairground Road, Carlisle Street, Spencer Street, Fletcher Street, McDonald Avenue, Maddocks Avenue, Meadow View Lane, Tweedie Lane, Daisy Way, Hubbert Way, Patrick’s Way, Mia’s Way and Wyman Road.

Anyone with questions about the notice is asked to call Reggie Winslow at 207-667-8632 or the state of Maine Drinking Water Program at 207-287-2070 during normal business hours.

Ethan Andrews is the night editor. He was formerly the managing editor at The Free Press and worked as a reporter for The Republican Journal and Pen Bay Pilot.
