A woman from the York County town of Limerick died after a head-on crash in the neighboring town of Cornish on Monday afternoon.
Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle crash at about 1:42 p.m. at 1277 Sokokis Trail North.
After an initial investigation, police believe 51-year-old Dawn Webber was driving north on Sokokis Trail North when her Ford Fusion crossed the center line and collided with a Ford F-350 commercial vehicle that was towing a trailer carrying two pickup trucks, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss said in a news release.
Webber was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pickup was not injured, Moss said.
The road was closed for about six hours while Maine State Police reconstructed the scene, Moss said.
Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated the first name of the victim based on incorrect information provided by police.
