A tractor-trailer was consumed by flames Wednesday morning after a crash in Turner.

Roger Eastman, 82, of Milan, New Hampshire, was driving a gray Western Star tractor-trailer south on Route 4, also known as Auburn Road, about 7:41 a.m. when a black 2023 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 51-year-old Fox Kein of Cornish crossed the center line and collided with him, according to the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash ruptured the tractor-trailer’s fuel tank and sparked a fire, which engulfed it, the sheriff’s office said.

Eastman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening.

Both the truck and tractor-trailer were completely totaled.

The Chevrolet was registered to Marden’s Inc. of Winslow, and the tractor-trailer was owned by Eastman Transportation Inc.

The crash remains under investigation.
