Firefighters were called to a house fire in the Somerset County town of Pittsfield late Monday night and stayed into the early morning Tuesday to put it out.

The fire was at a multistory home on Somerset Avenue.

Pittsfield and Newport fire departments were among those that responded to what the Newport department called a “very stubborn fire.”
