The question for a May 16 Bangor Daily News poll asked: “Should Democrats nominate someone other than Jared Golden in 2026?” My answer is a resounding “yes!!” and my question is “Why wasn’t this considered long ago?”

There is nothing in Golden’s actions or in what he says that would indicate to me that he is a Democrat. As a result, when he is nominated as the Democratic candidate for a position, I believe the voters must choose one of two Republican candidates, one who knows he/she is a Republican and one who does not.
