Bangor’s assistant city manager will step in to serve as interim city manager for the two weeks before the new city manager begins.

Bangor city councilors agreed on Wednesday to appoint Courtney O’Donnell to act as interim city manager for two weeks next month, and boost her pay during that time. O’Donnell has served as assistant city manager since April 2021.

Bangor’s current city manager, Debbie Laurie, will retire on Friday, May 30, but the new city manager, Carollynn Lear, doesn’t begin until Monday, June 16.

O’Donnell served as administrative assistant to former Bangor City Manager Cathy Conlow from 2015 to 2017.

She then became manager of Stockton Springs in February 2017 before taking the same job in Casco in July 2019. She left that job in September 2020, according to the Lakes Region Weekly.

She holds a degree in public administration from the University of Maine and a master’s in business administration from Husson University.
