Traffic over the Brandon M. Silk Memorial Bridge in Orono will be detoured starting Monday to allow for maintenance of the bridge, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.

A notice on the town’s website describes the work as resurfacing the bridge, which carries traffic along Main Street (Route 2) over the Stillwater River.

Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 9, and will continue until late August. Northbound traffic over the bridge will not be affected. Southbound traffic will be detoured along a route that follows College Avenue, Stillwater Avenue and Bennoch Road, according to Maine DOT.

The contractor on the project is BMB Construction of Holden. The contract amount is $500,000.
