A fire that destroyed a garage and cars parked at a southern Maine condo development late Friday was possibly sparked by a motorcycle, investigators say.

There were no injuries reported in the blaze, which erupted shortly after 7:30 p.m. at The Tamaracks on Maine Street in Kennebunkport, Shannon Moss, a spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release.

The state fire marshal’s office is still investigating, but Moss said a motorcycle that was started just before the fire was reported is a potential cause. The fire destroyed the garage and several cars parked inside and outside. A nearby home was also severely damaged, displacing the family that lived there.

The Kennebunk and Kennebunkport fire departments are assisting the fire marshal’s office with the investigation, Moss said.
