PanStorm, a 12-piece steel pan band, will be performing free weekly shows in West Market Square in downtown Bangor through the end of August.

The summer run of street dances starts tomorrow with shows every Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. through Aug. 28.

Alecia Talbot, captain of the group, described the repertoire as primarily soca music from Trinidad and Tobago, with a mix of Latin, jazz, pop and more. Steel pans are also commonly called steel drums.

The Bangor-based group has been together for roughly 10 years, Talbot said, and is performing this series of summer shows in coordination with Downtown Bangor Partnership.

“Perfect for families, music lovers, and anyone looking to add a little extra spark to their week,” the group wrote on Facebook. “Bring a chair, bring a friend, and bring your dancing shoes.”
