I applaud the kayakers for their creatively peaceful and legitimate protest near U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts’s vacation home. I think it’s an appropriate Maine welcome for a powerful man, with a lifetime job, who leads the most regressive and antidemocratic Supreme Court in American history.

Tens of thousands of Mainers continue to be harmed by the rollback of decades of progress to fulfill the promise of liberty and justice for all, and the degradation of individual civil liberties.

The infamous Dred Scott decision earned eternal ignominy for then Chief Justice Roger Taney. I believe the list of the Roberts Court’s shameful decisions is longer than an umpire’s arm.
