A woman accused of child abuse at a Brewer day care made her first court appearance Thursday morning.

Blake Sullivan, 35, appeared in person at Penobscot County Superior Court. She is charged with assault on a child less than 6 years old, a Class C felony; endangering the welfare of a child, a Class D misdemeanor; and reckless conduct, a Class D misdemeanor.

Sullivan of Carmel did not enter a plea, which is standard in felony cases. A grand jury will hear her case and decide whether to indict her.

The abuse allegedly happened at Elevate Child Care Center in Brewer on April 2, the Penobscot County district attorney’s office said.

Sullivan is scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 7. She will continue to stay out of jail on a personal recognizance bail.
