Maine is still holding on to its reputation as an out-of-the-way vacation spot, but that doesn’t mean the state doesn’t frequently welcome famous people.

With coastal towns that boast fresh seafood that Maine is known for alongside local hidden gems, the state has always had something to offer for celebrities visiting during the summer months.

This year so far, Maine welcomed many headline-grabbing stars through the peak tourism season.

Starting in May, comedian and actor Seth Rogen made a stop at a seafood restaurant in Kennebunkport. The comedian and actor was welcomed as a “special visitor” at Mabel’s Lobster Claw, the restaurant said in a social media post.

Maine native Patrick Dempsey may not be out of place in the Pine Tree State, but he still makes waves when he’s in town. The former Grey’s Anatomy star cheered on Maine’s only professional soccer team, the Hearts of Pine.

June saw “True Blood” and “Magic Mike” star Joe Manganiello celebrating his time on Peaks Island, where he said he spent time during his childhood.

Another Maine native Anna Kendrick was spotted in Portland supporting local artists while buying a piece from Savannah Saccarelli in June.

As the summer peaked, John Malkovich was spotted in Rockland at a barber shop, where he stopped to primp during vacation.

After Malkovich visited Maine, numerous people were able to snap selfies with country singer Blake Shelton and former No Doubt frontwoman Gwen Stefani, who enjoyed some time in Bar Harbor.

Maine also welcomed Tiffani Thiessen, known for her role as Kelly Kapowski on “Saved by the Bell” and Valerie Malone on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” when she stayed in Kennebunkport mid-July.

Maine is no stranger to celebrities, with multiple visits each year from notable industry names.

Last year, New England movie star royalty Matt Damon was spotted at a Kittery juice bar over the long Labor Day weekend.

Pop superstar Lady Gaga showed up in York in June 2024 for a wedding, late-night host Jimmy Fallon was spotted in Bar Harbor in July, and former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson stopped at an Eliot cannabis dispensary in August.

If we missed any celebrity sightings this summer, share them in the comments below.
