An Old Town man was arrested Sunday morning after a standoff that closed a busy stretch of Stillwater Avenue between Governor’s Restaurant and Pembroke Drive for several hours.
The incident began around 4:17 a.m., when police were called to 812 Stillwater Ave. for a report of a disorderly incident, according to a Facebook post by Old Town police. Officers learned a threat had been made and that the suspect had left the immediate area.
Police established a perimeter around the residence where they believed the suspect was hiding and closed off part of Stillwater Avenue. The Maine State Police Tactical Team was called in, and at about 10:15 a.m., Christopher Campbell, 23, of Old Town, was found inside and taken into custody.
Campbell was charged with criminal threatening, terrorizing, criminal mischief, and creating a police standoff, police said.
