Electrical issues are suspected to have started a fire that completely destroyed a Fairfield home on Saturday.

The fire at the Martin Stream Road residence was called in around 9 p.m., according to the state fire marshal’s office. The homeowner was not home at the time the fire broke out.

Based on an initial investigation, officials believe that an electrical fixture in the ceiling or the wall of an addition to the home sparked the blaze. An investigation is ongoing.
