SHERMAN, Maine — A Benedicta woman has been charged with driving to endanger after the 2003 Toyota Tundra she was driving collided with a horse-drawn Amish buggy in Sherman on Thursday morning, according to Maine State Police.

Lindsay Duffy-Stanley, 42, attempted to pass the horse-drawn buggy that was moving in the same direction on Benedicta Road at about 7:52 a.m. Friday, according to Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety. But Duffy-Stanley told police that she did not have enough room to pass and struck the buggy.

The collision caused the buggy driver to eject and land on the roadway. He was transported to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by Patten Ambulance Service.

According to police, the horse suffered a foot and leg laceration and the buggy was destroyed in the crash.

Sherman firefighters also assisted at the scene.
